Which is better: AWS or Azure?
AWS is run by Amazon, a large multinational and private sector company. In contrast, Azure is run by Microsoft, a multinational corporation. So, the question really comes down to which of these companies has a better business model. The answer is Amazon. That does not mean Azure is a bad choice. It is still a great choice, but in terms of the simplicity of managing the system and overall performance, AWS takes the cake. There’s nothing called best for any product. Each one of them has features and strengths in its own right. It depends on what you want to accomplish. I believe AWS is a slightly more mature technology & easy to start with while It’s not easy to start with Azure. The same goes for the ecosystem. But once you start using Azure, you feel that it’s way faster and more reliable than AWS.
Scenario: If you are building something in a hurry, AWS is a better option. If you want something stable and scalable, Azure is a better option.
Is Python required for AWS?
Not really. You can take a look at AWS documentation to get an idea of how to start with AWS. I didn’t use Python in AWS at all. Just basic knowledge of Linux commands will be enough. If you are required to build a new product, it is always advisable to use more than one technology. Python is one of the most widely used languages apart from Java and C#. The entire big data stack by AWS is written in Python — including Amazon S3, Amazon SimpleDB, and Amazon Glacier.
Is Facebook using AWS?
To be honest no, Facebook is not using AWS or azure. They opt to construct their own infrastructure rather than spending millions on a cloud service like AWS, or Azure to store their information. The shift to the cloud and the adoption of virtual instances for powering its infrastructure is a move that has helped Facebook save a lot of money. For example, the company says it cut its energy usage by about 20 per cent after making the move. Also, all of Facebook’s servers and network gear are now housed in a single data center, rather than having to deal with the overhead of maintaining multiple data centers, and Facebook is saving a whole bunch of money in the process, both in terms of capital costs and operational costs.
